Yes, I know, it’s January. It’s still winter outside. It’s cold, and I have to admit that I’m O-V-E-R it. I know the semester just started, but I am already looking forward to Summer! The lazy summer days, sun, swimming, tank tops, flip flops and warmth! Doesn’t it sound wonderful? Summer is also a great time to have an internship, practicum, or just a regular old job to get in some extra money.
Extra money –what’s that, right? Well you could just so happen to get the most perfect job ever and end up with some. How? I’m so glad you asked because I just so happen to be working on creating the greatest event for you to attend right here on campus that can do just that!
We are having our 35th Annual Summer Job Fair. Now I’m not going to lie – I have not been partaking in this summer job fair since conception, but I have been to it before and it is awesome. We currently have over 80 agencies that are signed up and coming here and still have room for more. That’s over 80 agencies with amazing opportunities that are looking for people that are in college or graduating from college! So if you happen to be one of those people, this is the perfect place for you to be.
The Summer Job Fair will be taking place on Wednesday, February 11 from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. That gives you plenty of time between classes to swing through. It is located in the Ballroom, perfect spot if you are grabbing lunch to also come upstairs and walk through. Of course I will be there too, so feel free to stop and see me, drop off some lunch (love me some Chik-fil-a) and check out all the great agencies.
I have to say, I’m pretty excited about the amazing selection of agencies that are registered to come so far. Some of the agencies that are going to be making a trip to hopefully see you are: City of St. Peter Recreation & Leisure Services, Global Treks and Adventures, Camp Foster YMCA, Z99 Radio, Harris Mechanical, Minnetonka Community Education, MN State Parks, Greater Mankato Area United Way, City of Mankato, Valleyfair, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hy-Vee, KOWZ/KORN Radio, National Sports Center. I could really just go on and on, because really they are all fantastic organizations with fantastic opportunities they are looking to fill.
And the best part – they come from all over. Not just the Mankato area. We have people traveling from the cities, northern Minnesota, and out-of-state all looking to recruit MSU students. So even if you are not planning to be around Mankato this summer, there are STILL opportunities for you at this job fair!
Oh, and did I mention there is popcorn and a lot of these places hand out freebies? So, there ya have it – every reason to go and no reason not to. I will be there at the booth right when you walk in, so stop and see me to let me know how great my article was at convincing you to stop in!
