Gamma Phi Beta to Host April 26 Moonball Fundraiser

On April 26, Gamma Phi Beta sorority at Minnesota State University, Mankato is hosting its’ annual Moonball Philanthropy Event.

The Moonball event is a kickball tournament at the Minnesota State University, Mankato, softball fields. from 4 to 9 p.m.. The cost for a team of 8-12 players is $80 and will feature music, raffle baskets, food, and t-shirts.

Gamma Phi Beta is partnering with an organization called Girls on the Run, who will be receiving all of the proceeds raised from this event.

Girls on the Run of Greater Mankato is an affiliate council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 200 councils across 50 states and the District of Columbia.  

Girls on the Run of Greater Mankato was established in 2007 to serve girls in the Greater Mankato community.  Girls come in two days a week practice where girls ages 8-13 are taught different lessons while preparing to run a 5K.

Their mission is to teach empowerment to these young girls and also to give them someone to look up to. Some lessons include self-respect, kindness, communication, and handling emotions. Many of Gamma Phi Beta’s members are coaches for Girls on the Run, so their members gain firsthand experience in mentoring young women.

The Moonball event is from 4:00-9:00pm on the softball fields on campus. The cost for a team of 8-12 players is $80 and will feature music, raffle baskets, food, and t-shirts.
