Maverick Spotlight: Afure Adah

For the final edition of Maverick Spotlight for the semester, the inSIDER features Afure Adah. Adah is a Senior on the Women’s Track & Field team and performs in sprint events. In 2017, Adah finished in first place in the 100M at the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Meet with a time of 11.77 The Moorhead, Minn. native is also a graphic designer here in the CSU Communications Department. Let’s get to know Afure.
- What three words best describe you?
- Funny, sassy, competitive
- What tops your list of pet peeves?
- When people don’t wash their hands after they leave the restroom. It’s just gross and selfish.
- If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
- Somebody’s cute French Bulldog because who doesn’t love a little Frenchie?!
- What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?
- In high school I spray painted (with furniture paint) all the wooden furniture in my room white. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but it turned out really nice, and I added gold hardware to all the nobs and my room just looked so much bigger and brighter.
- Who is your all-time favorite sports star?
- I honestly do not really watch sports like that so I feel like my answer would be fake.
- What is your most prized possession?
- Any piece of jewelry my mom gives me. Especially the rings I wear every day that used to be hers when she was my age.
- What three items can always be found in your refrigerator?
- A water filter…That’s it. I’m a “broke boy” who can’t drive. What is in my fridge depends on if I can get a ride to the grocery or if I have money to splurge at Kwik Trip or CVS lol. My pantry on the other hand will always have pasta, ramen, and for some reason, diced tomatoes.
- If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
- Homework that I procrastinated on, create art, or watch a variety of YouTube videos.
- What skill would you like to master?
- Drawing and having a drawing style.
- What movie title best describes your life?
- Sleeping Beauty
- What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
- Nothing honestly stands out as the luckiest thing.
- What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
- Pop sockets. They are just kind of ugly to me.
- If all jobs had the same pay and hours, what job would you like to have?
- An influencer.
- Who inspires you to be better?
- The people I look up to.
- What is something you will NEVER do again?
- If someone is showing me their true colors, I will NEVER overlook that again.
- What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
- Travel out of the country they were born in.
- If you could have a super power, what would it be?
- Mind reading. I would want to be able to choose who’s mind – and when, though.
- If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
- Give money to my family, and go apartment hunting.
- If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
- I wish I could observe myself
- What do you like most about Minnesota State University, Mankato?
- I like the level of diversity.
