There are over 150 employers attending this year! Here are a few tips to make sure you are ready:

First, you need to dress the part. You will be talking with who could be your future employer. First impressions go a long way. Also, you won’t be the only one in a suit there. Bonus! There will be free professional headshots. You can use these to make your Handshake of LinkedIn really POP!

Second, practice your elevator pitch. The employers will be talking to hundreds of students a day during the fair. You want to leave a lasting impression. If you need help or even a place to start, visit the career and development center! You can make an appointment on the Handshake website. Here is an example of an elevator pitch,

I recently graduated from college with a degree in communications. I worked on the college newspaper as a reporter, and eventually, as the editor of the arts section. I’m looking for a job that will put my skills as a journalist to work.

Lastly, have your resume ready! The employers will be needing a way to remember you and what you have accomplished so far. Update your resume and make sure to bring extras! You don’t want to run out.

If you have any questions or need help preparing for the career and internship fair make sure to visit the Career and Development Center in the Wigley Administration Center, room 209.
