American Indian Affairs welcomes Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan as the keynote speaker at the annual American Indian Night on Monday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom.
The evening includes music by Bluedog, a local Native American band.
The event celebrates Native American culture and history and provides a learning opportunity to experience and appreciate American Indian customs and traditions.
Megan Heutmaker, the director for American Indian Affairs at Minnesota State University, Mankato, said the cultural night benefits the greater Mankato region.
“This event is for Native students to come together and celebrate their culture, but it also for people to come and learn about what’s important to American Indian people right now.”

The evening enables Mankato residents to immerse themselves into Native American culture and gain a better understanding of American Indian culture through the voice of Native Americans.
The month of November is Native American Heritage Month. To honor their ancestors, the American Indian Affairs Office is hosting several events through the end of the month.
