Friends and Family is this year’s theme as the Hmong Student Association at Minnesota State University, Mankato hosts its first annual Hmong Culture Day on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the CSU Ballroom.

In their first annual event, the Hmong Student Association plans to promote their culture as a whole, highlighting the food, drinks, clothing, and family and friend traditions of the Hmong people.

The Hmong Student Association will also showcase a skit that shows the experience of being a Hmong child in America and the possible challenges they may face.

Yuepheng Thao, the PR and Marketing Director of the Hmong Student Association, shares the main message the organization wants to send to the campus and surrounding community.

“Our main goal is to present our culture to people of all backgrounds. We want them to learn about our traditions within the giant cultural melting pot of America.”
