In the second best-selling spring concert since 2008, the Student Events Team concert chair said getting rising country star Chris Lane in concert on Thursday, March 28, was partly due to good timing.

“We wanted to bring a country artist that had more of a pop country sound, and Chris Lane fits that mold. Chris Lane was also already in route to link up with Dan + Shay, who will be on tour in Madison, Wisc., the next day and he will be opening for them.”

Schauer said since Lane was already in the region, it was easier for his promoters and the Student Events Team to arrange a stop in Mankato.

He added that Lane has been a popular choice with less than 60 student tickets left as of March 18.

“If students want to go to a concert, have a good time, and see a big show, this is the opportunity to do so on campus this Spring,” Schauer said.

Lane, whose hits include For Her, Take Back Home Girl, and I Don’t Know About You, will headline the 7:30 concert in the Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena along with Tyler Rich as the opening act. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Touring with country superstars such as Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Lane has surpassed 840 million career streams. His sophomore album, Big Loud Records, is available on all digital platforms after debuting at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Country Albums chart and Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

Rich is known for his hit single, The Difference

Free event parking will be available in Lots 20 and 21, which are located adjacent to Blakeslee Stadium on campus.
