Maverick Spotlight: Ben Ojika

For the final week of Maverick Spotlight this semester, the inSIDER features Ben Ojika, a Senior on the Men’s Track & Field team. Ojika is a native of New Brighton, Minn., and a graduate of Irondale High School. In the 2017 outdoor season, Ojika finished fifth in the 2017 NSIC Outdoor Track & FIeld Meet in the 110m hurdles (15:12), finished second and set a personal best time in the 110m hurdles (14.56).
- What three words best describe you?
- Random, learner, creative.
- What tops your list of pet peeves?
- Dropping or wasting perfectly good food.
- If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
- An orangutan because they’re so chill and cozy looking.
- What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?
- Go to college
- Who is your all-time favorite sports star?
- The answer is Allen Iverson
- What is your most prized possession?
- My bible
- What three items can always be found in your refrigerator?
- Almond milk, cucumbers, and lemonade
- If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
- Make music and collaborate with others.
- What skill would you like to master?
- The piano at some point in life
- What movie title best describes your life?
- A Series of Unfortunate Events.
- What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
- Being born.
- What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
- Game of Thrones for sure.
- If all jobs had the same pay and hours, what job would you like to have?
- A social worker.
- Who inspires you to be better?
- Everyone around me.
- What is something you will NEVER do again?
- Skip class. I pay for that ish.

- Volunteering

- Pay off my parents and siblings debts.
