Looking for a way to tune-in to your #mavfam community? KMSU “The Maverick” is offering a noonday option.

KMSU 89.7 has retooled is 12 Noon programming to connect students and the greater campus community with weekday features.

‘If anyone wants to get involved, just record a message on your mobile phone, and email it to me, along with two or three songs you’d like us to play.”

KMSU STATION MANAGER DWAYNE MEGAW

Station Manager Dwayne Megaw said the idea grew from student staff working from home. They sought a way to keep Maverick spirit alive during the COVID-19 campus closure through music and conversation.

“A couple of our student DJs are able to create their shows from home,” Megaw said.

Other daily programming focuses on playing messages and song requests from students, faculty and staff.

Programming started Monday, March 30, with #mavfam Monday.

“That was sort of a prototype, but I think it will work out great,” Megaw said.

Megaw said members of the campus community can send messages and requests to his email.

“If anyone wants to get involved, just record a message on your mobile phone, and email it to me, along with two or three songs you’d like us to play,” he said. “We may not be able to play all the songs, but we certainly will play your message.”
