“Shake Your Shamrock,” the latest installment of the Student Events Team’s new Happy Hour Series will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an evening of Irish-style fun on March 17.

The celebration will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Maverick Bullpen in the lower level of the Centennial Student Union.

Previously called “Mocktails,” the Happy Hour Series gives students the opportunity to hang out in a bar-like environment without alcoholic drinks.

Students at the St. Patty’s event will enjoy green treats such as green cookies and mint ice cream, live music from student musicians and free unlimited billiards.

Since Fall 2019, past Happy Hour Series events have been a Holiday Happy Hour with hot chocolate and cookies and the Welcome Back Celebration that featured the Mankato-based acapella group, Fermata Sol.

Brandon Weideman, the concert chair for Student Events Team, plans the themed events.

‘When I stepped into the concert chair role, I wanted to mix things up and do something different. So, I came up with the idea of having themed events throughout the semester.’

Students returning from Spring Break can step back into the semester with a night of fun, Weideman said.

‘As we were trying to figure out an event for March, I saw that St. Patrick’s Day was on the Tuesday after Spring Break, which worked out perfectly.’

Live music will be performed by student artists Noah Battles and Jada LaFrance.
