The March podcast features more items from Mankato Minnesota’s Front Street Project.  You’ll hear a story about Comstock’s Standard and a wonderful phone call from former Mankato resident, Norma Laven.  For some reason, the sound is a touch fuzzy this month–hope you still enjoy.

The February podcast presents two stories relating to Mankato’s Front Street.  First, a piece featuring Backlund’s Music, a Front Street fixture from the late 1940’s until 1975 and then a short piece featuring a coffee group from Front Street’s Wagon Wheel Cafe.

As always, the podcast first aired on KMSU’s “Minnesota Morning”–this month’s show featured guest host Jim Gullickson.

Our first podcast of the new year features two stories–one about the Century Club and one about Dan’s Barber Shop.  The Century Club was a classic super club located in North Mankato until it closed its doors in 1983.  Dan’s Barber shop, located in Mankato, Minnesota, is still going strong after 46 years.

Hi All,

Our December podcast features three audio pieces relating to Southern Minnesota.  You’ll hear a student-produced story about Francis Goettl, a long-time employee of Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Also featured this month is a short piece on Mankato’s Rathskeller Bar and another recorded phone message from the Front Street Project.

As always, the podcast comes from Karen Wright’s “Minnesota Morning” program on KMSU radio here in Mankato.  Karen  features our work the first Monday of each month.

The November episode of our podcast features selections from a developing audio history on Mankato, Minnesota’s Front Street. For many years, Front Street was Mankato’s “main street”–but in the late 60s and early 70s urban renewal and the building of a new mall took most of the street off the map.  Front Street is still very much alive in the stories of locals who remember what it was…
