Can you believe that summer is right around the corner!? Neither can we! Before you pack up and head out to your summer destinations, make sure to have your career plan ready to go! Summer break doesn’t have to mean you take a break from your career!!

Here is your friendly career development checklist to help stay on track:

□ Calling all educators!

The Minnesota Education Job Fair is just around the corner! Remember to register on Mavjobs.com to attend. The job fair is on April 18th from 10:00am until 3:00pm at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Sessions will be available on how to find a teaching job as well as onsite interviews! For more information on Job Fairs, please read our blog post “How to approach a recruiter”.

□ Remember the Fairs Coming Up Next Year

We have a variety of events coming in the fall that can help you jump start your career! Make a note to come check out our career events next fall including; the Campus and Community Fair 2016, the one and only CAREER EXPO, and the Major Fair.

□ Take time to update your resume and cover letter

You’ve had one wonderful year! Take time this summer to reflect on your experiences and update your resume to reflect them, these experiences can be anything from a part-time job to volunteer experience. The Job Search Handbook is a great tool for polishing your materials so that you feel ready to go in the fall.

□ Take time to reflect and build your skills this summer

Summer is a great time to reflect on our experiences and seek out new experiences to enhance our professional development. Seek out opportunities for experience this summer including; informational interviews, internships, volunteer opportunities, and part-time jobs.
