For all you ABBA fans, a feast of songs by the iconic Swedish foursome will be matched with story and dance as Minnesota State Mankato theatre and dance department presents Mamma Mia! starting Wednesday, April 7, and running on selected dates through Sunday, April 18.

Paul Hustoles, former long-time head of the theatre department, steps out of retirement for a second go at presenting Mamma Mia! Hustoles was set to direct the production last spring, however, COVID forced the cancellation of Mamma Mia! and eight other productions.

Based on the songs of pop group ABBA, and set on a sunny Greek island, Mamma Mia! tells the story of a daughter’s quest to discover the identify of her father when she invites all three men from her mother’s past to her wedding.

The production features the title song, “Mamma Mia!,” as well as such well-known karaoke favorites as “Dancing Queen,” “SOS,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “The Winner Takes It All,” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You.”

Tickets are $24 regular, $21 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $16 for Minnesota State Mankato students.

The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. The Box Office line is 507-389-6661.

COVID protocols are still in place including a mandatory mask requirement for audience members, cast, crew and staff. Patrons are required to complete a COVID self-screening before coming to campus, and the theatre has limited capacity to ensure social distancing.
