Dr. Jason Kaufman, College of Education professor of Educational Leadership, again teams up with colleague Aaron Petersen in their latest collaboration–a chapter in a new book that looks as Star Wars and Conflict Resolution. The two were among 25 authors contributing to the book published by DRI Press in St. Paul, Minn. In Chapter 14 entitled Curse My Metal Body! How Empathy Shaped A Protocol Droid’s Journey, Kaufman said the duo looked at C-3PO as a quintessential protocol droid designed to inject logic when faced with human indecision and incompatibility. But did C-3PO have the empathy for the job? Kaufman and Peterson collaborated on previous Star Trek applications into leadership including their June 2022 feature on StarTrek.com. Kaufman often applies Star Trek and Star Wars leadership principles in his course lectures.
