Chili Cook-Off & Can Jam Among November Activities Aiding Hunger and Homelessness

Minnesota State Mankato President Edward Inch will be among chefs concocting creative chili conceptions at this year’s traditional Chili Cook-Off on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Hosted by University Dining to support Campus Kitchen in its annual November Food Drive, the chili sampling event will be from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on the Centennial Student Union MavAve. A $2 donation or a non-perishable food item entitles guests to sample four chili recipes and cast the vote for the 2021 Chili Cook-Off Champion.

Joining President Inch are entries from the Multicultural Center, Student Activities and Campus Dietician and Nutrition Expert Holly Ellison. The winner of the 11th annual Chili Cook-Off is expected to be announced later that day.

This year’s food collecting efforts will also be aided by the Music Departments Concert Production Class which is hosting Can Jam 2 on Wednesday evening, Nov. 17, from 7:30 to 10 at Hooligan’s in the Madison East Center.

Music throughout the evening will be by Department of Music musicians. A canned or boxed food donation will earn a ticket toward prizes being awarded throughout the evening. Collected food will be donated to Campus Kitchen.
