This past year has put a mental strain on a number of students who are feeling dispirited, but the Counseling Center at Minnesota State Mankato will always be there to lend a helping hand to students.

Located on the upper level of the Centennial Student Union, the Counseling Center continues to explore new ways to help students with new services and free seminars.

This semester, the Counseling Center offers students virtual services and looks forward to the day they can have in-person interaction.

If a student does not want to see a counselor virtually, the Counseling Center provides referrals to a list of local agencies offering in-person services.

The Counseling Center is also continuing its free, drop-in seminars with no registration required. These seminar topics focus on student success in the areas of test anxiety, stress management and online learning. Below is a schedule of seminars offered for Spring

They also have another list of seminars that student can attend through zoom that cover a variety of subjects. Schedules and descriptions of the workshops are pictured below.

Several on-demand presentations are offered on their website at https://mankato.mnsu.edu/university-life/health-and-safety/counseling-center/getting-started-with-the-counseling-center/online-services/. Students can watch at their convenience.

This semester, the Counseling Center are offering individual, group counseling and Behavioral Stress Management Instruction for a range of topics including sleep and stress management. Other services include virtual outreach opportunities to faculty, learning communities and other groups, by request.

All services are free to students currently enrolled this semester in the state of Minnesota.

Students interested in seeing a counselor, first need to call 507-389-1455 or email the Counseling Center at counseling-center@mnsu.edu  to set up a screening time.

A 20-30 minute screening session is a zoom appointment with a counselor that discusses the student’s goals and needs. Counselors then can make recommendations for future services.

Screening appointment times for the academic year:

Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Monday – Friday: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
