FINLEY ALEXANDER: Get Involved: ‘You never know what you might enjoy.’

Each semester since Spring 2015, the Centennial Student Union honors eight students selected for campus student leadership and CSU student staff excellence. Nominated by staff members from Student Affairs, the Kearney International Center, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion selected students are recognized on the BEST Board, a 55-foot display in the CSU Hearth Lounge created for Boasting Exceptional StudentTalent.

Nominator’s comments...

Finley has been essential in aiding in the development of staff training plans within our Technical Services team. Finley also has an incredible ability to learn new things. I have seen her pick up complex technical skills after only having them demonstrated to her once; this is not common when dealing with technically intensive equipment and events. Finley has a strong desire to learn, to better herself and her professional development. In her time with Technical Services, she has become one of our go-to staff members to handle the training of new technicians.

In Finley’s Own Words…

How has campus involvement and/or campus employment enhanced YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE?

Being involved and employed on campus has helped me gain more confidence in myself and as a leader. I have been a part of events that I never thought I would be involved in.

Provide one or more detailed examples where your campus involvement/work experience made you a better leader.

Campus involvement has helped me learn more about how to work with a wide variety of people and how to communicate even when we don’t come from the same background.

What advice would you share with fellow students in helping them make the most of their college experience?

Don’t be afraid to try new things. You never know what you might enjoy.
