Free Tampons, Condoms, Pads, and More Among Women’s Center Many Services

By ANGELA MURPHY, CSU Communications Student Assistant

Whether it’s menstrual products and condoms, assistance or a place to gather, the Women’s Center located on the second floor of the Centennial Student Union (CSU218) offers opportunities and support for students.

Here are things you should know about the Women’s Center:

  • The Women’s Center offers a quick Bridge to Benefits 10-question survey that helps students determine if they are eligible for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC, free healthcare, reduced utility costs, and more. While Bridge to Benefits is more beneficial to domestic students, it may assist international students with children born in the United States.
  • The Women’s Center hosts three events each semester for Women in Stem. Past programming focused on women in Government, IT and Healthcare. The Women’s Center recently applied for a Women in STEM Learning Community. A targeted start date has been delayed due to COVID-19.
  • The Women’s Center offers free tampons, condoms, pads, breastmilk storage, and pumping stations. Most of the Women’s Center products came from the President’s Commission on the Status of Women for this year. Many sororities on campus have partnered with the Women’s Center to gain donations for these products as the Women’s Center seeks to make menstrual products continually available on campus free of charge.
  • The Women’s Center as well offers seating in their office for students to do homework, have meetings, and catch up with students. They support Women in Action and recently are promoting to make it a more feminist group. Women in Action is open to all students no matter their gender identity.

They would love to partner with student organizations and want to make students aware that they are a resource. If you would like to know more about the Women’s Center stop by CSU 218 or email elizabeth.steinborn-gourley@mnsu.edu
