Adam Bohanan, the Twin Cities singer-songwriter slated to help kickoff Homecoming Week on Monday, Sept. 30, is among performers auditioning during Season 26 of NBC’s reality singing competition, The Voice, premiering Monday, Sept. 23.
Bohanan comes to Minnesota State Mankato as part of the ongoing Serendipity Music Series hosted by the Centennial Student Union. His Sept. 30 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. performance on the Campus Mall is part of the annual Homecoming Week kickoff. The week’s activities continue through Homecoming Day on Saturday, Oct. 5.
On his social media, Bohanan teased about his upcoming performance on the popular reality show.
“Hey y’all, I’ve been keeping a little secret, and here it is!! I auditioned for the upcoming season 26 of @nbcthevoice. I’m very excited to tell you all more about my experience on #thevoice. But you’re going to have to watch the show to find out!! Tune-in to watch the premiere on Monday, September 23rd 8/7c on @nbc and streaming on @peacock,” he posted.
Seeking to discover new singing talent, the reality competition features a panel of four judges who cast votes in blind auditions. Judges who “turn their chair” for the performer compete to mentor the singer toward the season finals determined by viewer voting. Season 26 panel of judges/mentors feature Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg.
Coming from New York City, Bohanan has developed a Twin Cities presence with his funk, soul and R&B sound that he describes as “think Stevie Wonder meets D’Angelo.” His Sept. 30 performance features a his three-piece combo performing original and cover tunes.
Bohanan’s performance is the latest in the ongoing Serendipity Music Series hosted by the Centennial Student Union, which seeks to spotlight Minnesota musicians in “street-corner serenades” at mid-week, mid-day performances in the CSU and on the campus mall.
