Representing Minnesota State Mankato, Nathan Thompson and Brian Linder completed their college fishing tournament careers by capturing the Strike King Bassmaster College Series.

The duo from Mille Lacs who, according to an online story posted by Bassmaster, have been fishing together since fifth grade, landed the Strike King Bassmaster College Series title as both were representing and completing their college career at Minnesota State Mankato.

According to final results of the June 9-10 tourney results at Saginaw Bay, Mich., Thompson and Linder turned in their two-day total of 44 pounds, 3 ounces. Their second day catch of 23-2 was the biggest total of this year’s national series.

The Maverick anglers claimed this year’s trophy ahead of last year’s winners, Tucker Smith and Logan Parks from Auburn University, who finished second. Thompson and Linder’s total tipped the scale more than a pound over the 2021 champions.
