INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Minnesota State earned the sixth seed in the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Central Regional Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday night.
The Mavericks (39-15) will face Southern Arkansas (39-16). The Muleriders won the automatic bid in the Great American Conference by virtue of their 7-6 win over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday. This will mark the Mavericks’ 40th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Mavericks hold a record of 78-82 in 39 appearances at the NCAA Tournament.
The double-elimination four-team sub-regional tournament, which will be hosted by second-seeded Missouri Southern (42-15) in Joplin, Mo., is scheduled for May 18. Missouri Southern hosts seventh-seeded Arkansas Tech (32-20) in the double-elimination tournament.
The other sub-regional tournament will be hosted by top-seeded Central Missouri (41-13) in Joplin, Mo. The Mules host eighth-seeded St. Cloud State. Fourth-seeded Quachita Baptist and sixth-seeded Augustana round out the region.
The sub-regional champions will advance to a three-game super regional series at the highest remaining seed’s field the following week.
