On the move and looking for something healthy? A new scan-and-go nourishing option has been added to the MavAve food court in the Centennial Student Union.
Jena Covyeow, University Dining Retail Operations Manager for the CSU, said Smoodi, a self-serve smart blender, offers the newest healthy snack option on campus. Originating in Iowa, Smoodi features a frozen smoothie product line offering 100 percent real fruit mixes, protein blends and even a coffee, cocoa and hemp blender. The unit is among the first at a Sodexo site.
The Smoodi station offers healthy pre-mixed vegan and gluten-free selections with various fruit mixes and two protein servings. The unit features two self-cleaning mixing tubes with one dedicated strictly to peanut-based products. To avoid cross-contamination, the allergen-safe mixer scans the product’s QR code and shuts down if a non-protein cup is placed in the blender.
Selections can get a “boost” with four different flavor additives: honey syrup, vanilla, agave, and sweetener. Each serving offers a free bamboo straw that can be reused for up to 6 months. The frozen servings range from 70 to 380 calories and are priced from $4.99 to $7.99.
