A week-long world celebration of big ideas and innovation includes a series of virtual gatherings for Minnesota State Mankato students.
Through the College of Business Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) students, faculty, staff and the entire regional community can participate Nov. 13-20 in an annual international celebration of entrepreneurship.
Virtual activities start Friday, Nov. 13, with a social media breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Activity resumes on Monday, Nov. 16. with events through the CIE and a number of local organizations serving entrepreneurs. Events occur Monday to Friday, most in the later afternoon.
Unless noted, all events are free.
“Global Entrepreneurship Week in Mankato is a great opportunity for action-oriented students with big ideas to gain knowledge and connections to help them with their side gigs, inventions, nonprofit or for-profit business ideas,” said Dr. Yvonne Cariveau, Ph.D., CIE director.
While the CIE is always available to help students realize their entrepreneurial dreams, the week offers an in-depth training opportunity.
“November 16th to November 20th is a special chance to dive-in and meet other organizations in the region that are eager to help as well.”
For those that need money for their ideas, there are three events to especially note – the Region 9 Revolving Loan event, the BizPitch pitch competition and the Big Ideas venture competition Kick Off, Cariveau said.
Online programming addresses a range of topics including entrepreneurs of color, women entrepreneurs and 1 Millon Cups in Mankato – a free program designed to educate, engage and accelerate early-stage startups.
