The Maverick Handball Club capturing titles in all divisions at the Minnesota State Handball Championships Nov. 18-19 in Fridley. Maverick Coach Mike Wells said it was the first time in Minnesota Handball history that one team swept the championships.
These past few weeks, Fraternity and Sorority Life has been going through the process of electing new council officers. These individuals are eager to take on new opportunities within the Greek community. Our mission statement voices that we are a “community of campus leaders committed to excellence in scholarship and to promoting dynamic personal growth of members, focusing on the development of experimental leadership, and the fostering of lasting relationships.”
The Fall 2022 Graduation Commencement will be held on Dec. 10, 2022, at Bresnan Arena in the Taylor Center.

CSU StressBusters during Finals Week include the traditional FREE Late Night Breakfast on Monday starting at 10pm on the MavAve. Other activities include daytime and evening therapy dog sessions on Monday; FREE 10-minute massages Monday-Wednesday in CSU 203; Monday cello music at 11 a.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge as well as coloring stations and Punch the Clown throughout the week.
I know many people like to do it all. I see my friends and others fill their schedule to the brim. If that works for them, then that’s great! But the single best thing for my burnout and mental health that I have learned is to not do that.
If you are burnt out, you are not alone. Especially now around finals week, many students are experiencing burnout. Luckily, that also means there are resources to help cope and combat.
With finals week approaching, many of us are suffering from burnout more than ever. Cleveland Clinic says, “According to the APA Dictionary of Psychology, burnout is defined as “physical, emotional or mental exhaustion, accompanied by decreased motivation, lowered performance and negative attitudes towards oneself and others.” It is something we have likely all experienced, though for different amounts of time and to different extents.

“Your English is Hilarious” hosted by the Kearney International Center offers international students a space for conversational English without judgment. This next event will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the CSU Heritage Room, CSU 101.
NIL, which stands for Name, Image and Likeness, is opening money-making opportunities for Maverick student-athletes since the July 2021 NCAA policy change. Maverick athletes can receive products, discounts, or cash in addition to new opportunities.
Animal lovers can pursue a minor in Human-Animal Studies at Minnesota State Mankato. Coursework explores human attitudes toward animals, animal rights and animal minds.

“People depend on food, it is not negotiable.” Swipe out Hunger was brought to Minnesota State Mankato three years ago through student Kara Svercl’s efforts. Swipe out Hunger makes an annual donation of meal swipes to the school, which students can apply for. This year marks the third year of the partnership. Food insecurity is not a new issue, but it is now being faced head-on.
Maria Rios believes that campus involvement has helped her experience the value of teamwork and dedication. Without campus involvement, Maria imagines her life would be solely academics and work which would have limited her horizons.
