What are the secrets to a successful relationship that involves a partner who uses a wheelchair?

For Hannah Aylward and Shane Burcaw, who lives with a form of muscular dystrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair, living in an interabled relationship is really no different than any other relationship. They argue, they laugh, there’s highlights and there’s lowlights. And they support each other.

The Minneapolis couple – with their pet names “Squirmy and Grubs” – now apply their time as relationship vloggers. Seeking to change the way society understands disability, the two will present a virtual event for the Minnesota State Mankato community on Wednesday, Feb 10, at 7 p.m.

The presentation is funded by a Nadine B. Andreas Endowment and by the College of Arts and Humanities. Co-sponsors for the event are the Office of Accessibility Resources and the Department of Communication Studies.
