Spirit Month Medallion Hunt Clues Start Dropping Monday, Oct. 26

Students Only Can Claim This Year’s Prizes

Starting Monday, Oct. 26, the race is on for this year’s Medallion Hunt.

A traditional part of Homecoming Week, the annual student Medallion Hunt was moved to this year’s Spirit Month celebration with the first clue dropping at 8 a.m. on Oct. 26. Clues will continue through Friday, Oct. 30 unless Medallion is discovered earlier in the week.

Prizes and coupons valued at $—- will be awarded to the finder of this year’s Medallion.

Clues will be released throughout the week online and through the Student Events Team Instagram site. Once Medallion is found, it will be announced on both sites.

Posted Tips and Rules for this year’s Medallion Hunt:

  • The Medallion Hunt is OPEN TO MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO STUDENTS ONLY.
  • The Medallion is NOT located in any buildings.
  • The Medallion is NOT located in any construction areas.
  • The Medallion is NOT located somewhere on campus that you couldn’t normally access.
  • NO digging or climbing is necessary to find the Medallion.
  • The Medallion is not hidden in the Amos Owen Garden of American Indian Horticulture. Please do not dig in the garden.
  • Should a team win, only one person can claim the prize. It is up to the team how to split the winnings.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions are in place for this year’s Medallion Hunt:

  • Please stay 6 feet from your teammates at all times.
  • Maintain 6 foot physical distance from others.
  • Wear a face covering while inside a building (remember, Medallion is not hidden in any building) or when distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Wash hands thoroughly or use hand sanitizer often.

Normal 2020 Homecoming Week activities were canceled as a precaution due to COVID-19. Month-long Spirit Month activities were planned by the Student Events Team around the apropos Maverick theme “Masks On, Horns Up.” T-shirts with this year’s historic theme have been handed out throughout the month.


Final Spirit Month activities include the traditional Lip Sync and Royalty Coronation on Thursday, Oct. 29. While Lip Sync will not have an in-person audience, a live-streaming Student Events Team Facebook event will include Lip Sync routines, judges’ feedback, and coronation of the 2020 Maverick Royalty.
