by GABBIE KEERAN, CSU Public Relations Intern

Take action, sign the pledge, and end the word.

On Thursday, March 4, the Community Engagement Office at Minnesota State Mankato launches its annual Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign on March 4, 2021.

Inclusion is the theme for this year’s campaign which seeks to recognize the needs of people with developmental disabilities and to ensure that everyone is seen, valued, and heard, said Karen Anderson, Student Activities assistant director for CEO.

Student leaders from Mavs in Action are offering students the chance to make their pledge, and have their photo taken with their pledge.

The goal of the campaign is to create a photo mosaic made with images of participants who took the pledge. The mosaic will be unveiled during National Volunteer Week 2021, April 18-24.

2021 will be the first year creating the photo mosaic.

“This mosaic photo will reflect all pledgers standing together and supporting an issue that is bigger than themselves in order to make a difference,” Anderson said.

Take the pledge and a photo on the following dates:

  • Thursday, March 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Dining Center
  • Thursday, March 4, 4 to 6 p.m. at the University Dining Center
  • Tuesday, March 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mav Ave in the Centennial Student Union
  • Monday, March 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Highland Crossroads, near Einstein Bagels
