As we continue in the COVID era and the peak of cold and flu season, Student Health Services reminds students to take advantage of its provided services.

The Medical Clinic and Pharmacy in the Carkoski Commons are still offering services to students. In addition, the Relaxation Room has re-opened with the change to yellow status.

Wendy Schuh, director of Student Health Services, said many students are unaware of the clinical and pharmaceutical services that the campus provides. These services, funded through student fees and insurance, are at a reduced cost compared to other area clinics.

“It surprises me when a student who has been here for over two years has no knowledge of the clinic and pharmacy on campus,” Schuh said. “We typically see about a third of the overall population at some point each year. While I’m happy with that many people knowing we exist, there is definitely room for growth.”

Schuh said COVID has impacted normal operations.

“We aren’t seeing as many students as other years, but it has also brought wellness to the forefront of people’s minds,” she said.

Student Health Services has adapted COVID by creating an upper level designated for patients with COVID symptoms or testing services. It also incorporated telehealth visits for students and offers mailing of pharmacy prescriptions.
