Student Retention Rates Highest in 13 Years

The last two academic semesters have been inevitably chaotic as they have been entangled with COVID and various other complications. Minnesota State Mankato has been acknowledging and evaluating the information and student success rate given the oddities and circumstances of these times.

With it, they found that the student re-enrollment of Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 were the highest they have been in 18 years, according to statistics compiled by the University’s office of Student Success, Analytics and Integrated Planning.

Likewise, student loss has been lower in Fall 2020 than Fall 2019. At this time of the semester last year, 750 students had left as opposed to 670 students this year.

In regards to retention, entering undergraduate students 5.3% retention gap in Fall of 2018 to 3.8% during Fall of 2020. Therefore, the Fall 2019 cohort of entering undergraduates had a retention rate of 78.1%: the highest one-year retention rate in 13 years. 

That being said, as Spring semester registration begins, Minnesota State Mankato has resources for you.
