The 2020 version of the successful U-Lead Conference at Minnesota State Mankato will expand to nightly programming running Oct. 19-22.

Keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Alex Sheen, founder and CEO of Because I Said I Would. He speaks remotely on Tuesday evening, Oct. 20.

Information, including the schedule for this year’s event and a list of sessions available, can be found here.

Pre-registration is highly suggested, particularly if a student wishes to attend in person, or if attendance needs to be verified for a class assignment or extra credit. Links to sign up for each session are included at the site above.

Unlike the previous annual conferences occuring over one evening, this year’s Seventh Annual U-Lead Conference will feature two educational sessions at 7 and 8 p.m. over four consecutive nights.

Attendees may join in-person or via Zoom.

This year’s keynote speaker is Alex Sheen, multiple-time TedX presenter and Founder & CEO of Because I Said I Would. Sheen’s organization, is a social movement and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept.

“We created the Promise Card to inspire others to keep their promises, but the movement has grown into something far greater than its origin,” Sheen said.

More information may be found at www.becauseisaidiwould.org.

Sheen will join the conference on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 and 8 p.m.  His presentation will be broadcasted via live stream in Ostrander Auditorium and on Zoom.  Participants will be able to engage whether they’re in Ostrander or joining remotely.

In-person attendance will be limited to the first 60 registrants to indicate that in their RSVP on Engage.

U-Lead is a collaboration between Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Maverick Involvement Team, the Student Events Team, Student Government, the Kearney Center for International Student & Scholar Services, and Residential Life.

In years past, several faculty members offered extra credit to students attending this event, or they may have allowed attendance at the event to meet other course requirements. Students should check with their instructors for possible credit opportunities.
