‘Cabaret’ and ‘Constellations’ Kick Off 2024-25 Theatre & Dance Season

The Department of Theatre and Dance posts a 2024-25 season that features five Main Stage productions, four Studio productions as well as Fall and Spring Dance Concerts.

Student tickets for each performance are just $5.

Main Stage shows include fall musical, “Cabaret,” and spring musical, “Cinderella.” Other shows in Ted Paul Theatre include “Lend Me a Soprano,” the American classic “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and Shakespeare’s “The Winter Tale.”

Studio performances in the Andreas Theatre open Sept. 25 with “Constellations,” “Escaped Alone,” “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” and “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised] [Again].”

The Fall and Spring Semester schedules conclude with Dance Concerts.

Lend Me A Soprano

In this riotous romp, the Cleveland Grand Opera Company is in a frenzy as they prepare for a monumental performance featuring the legendary soprano, Maria Merelli. But when Maria goes missing and chaos ensues, the stage is set for a comedy of errors like no other. With mistaken identities, frantic cover-ups, and a cavalcade of quirky characters, Lend Me a Soprano hits all the right notes and keeps you laughing.

A Streetcar Named Desire

Step into the steamy streets of New Orleans and experience one of the greatest plays of the 20th century. The Winter’s Tale

The enchanting world of William Shakespeare brings you The Winter’s Tale, where magic, betrayal, and redemption intertwine in a spellbinding tale of love and forgiveness. Set against the backdrop of two contrasting kingdoms, this timeless masterpiece takes audiences on a journey from the icy grip of jealousy to the warm embrace of reconciliation.

April 10-12 & 17 20, 2025
Join us for this timeless and magical classic for all ages as Cinderella dreams of a more beautiful life. Featuring beloved songs from Rodgers & Hammerstein like “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago, this production will transport you to a world where dreams really do come true. With its timeless story, unforgettable characters, and uplifting message of hope, this magical production is certain to be a lovely night.

Spring 2024 Dance Concert : Carmina Burana

Join us at the Dance Concerts as part of your season subscription.

Witness the artistry and dedication of the dance faculty, guest artists, and students through original choreography and the culminations of an entire semester’s worth of work. Multiple dance styles will be presented that range from contemporary modern, to ballet, to urban dance.

Constellations

Constellations examines the notion of multiverse theory, suggesting that every choice made by the 
characters spans parallel universes with alternate outcomes. This non-linear narrative lets us witness the various ways in which Marianne and Roland’s relationship could unfold, from chance encounters to pivotal moments of connection and separation and invites the audience to consider their own paths.

Escaped Alone

Oct. 23-26, 2024
This compelling play invites audiences into the lives of four older women who convene in a suburban 
garden to share tea, gossip, and anecdotes. Amidst their seemingly mundane discussions about gardening, television shows, and personal reminiscences, deeper themes of isolation, existential dread, and the fragility of human existence gradually surface.

Heroes of the Fourth Turning

March 26-29, 2025
Set in a small town in Wyoming, the play takes place over the course of one night, bringing together four young conservatives at a backyard gathering to celebrate the appointment of their former professor, Gina, as the new president of a Catholic college. The narrative unfolds through a series of intense, philosophical conversations that touch on politics, faith, identity, and the state of America.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised] [Again]
