A new bronze statue commissioned by the Centennial Student Union entitled Sittin’ with Stomper was unveiled in the CSU on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The statue features the University’s beloved mascot, Stomper, seated on an 8-foot bronze bench that will be permanently placed on the main level of the CSU. A plaque commemorating the spirit of the statue was also installed near the sculpture.
In the first of an eight-part series on the Fall 2022 BEST Board honorees, International Student Association President Majd Alharbi assumes a leadership role for improving the ISA and serving international students by listening, being supportive and “standing up for what you believe.”
President Edward Inch announced his launching of his Mav Coin Presidential Challenge. He and campus leaders will be watching for individuals modeling and advancing Inclusion, Cooperation, Innovation and Maverick Spirit. Recognized individuals receive a commemorative coin and will be honored at an April 2023 reception.
Maverick sophomore sprinter Denisha Cartwright heads into the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships ranked among the nation’s fastest NCAA Division II sprinters. The Nassau, Bahamas, native earned her fourth NSIC Track Athletic of the Week this outdoor season following the Deb Schulz Open at Minnesota State Mankato. She is also a member of the Mavericks 400-meter relay team which holds this spring’s top time in Division II.
