Ja’Cey Simmons is a Milwaukee, Wis., native and a sprinter on the Minnesota State women’s track and field team. This past weekend, the women’s track and field sent many athletes to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Ja’Cey was a part of the 4x100m relay team that finished first with a qualifying time of 45.25, setting a new Minnesota State outdoor track and field record and now the top time in the nation. The record was previously set in 2010 season with a time of 45.56 by Linnelle Clark, Becca Schmidt, Kelsey Leonard and Brittany Henderson. Simmons also secured a second place finish this past Friday with a time of 12.00 in the 100m dash at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa.

- Who inspires you to be better? Me, I always push myself to do better
- What is something you will NEVER do again? Not waste time on things that wouldn’t benefit me
- What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Jump off an airplane or skydive
- If you could have a super power, what would it be? Teleportation
- If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Invest in myself, business or stocks, something makes more money

- What do you like most about Minnesota State University, Mankato? The sense of belonging, state isn’t too small or big, diverse campus
