Dryden McKay is the goaltender for the Minnesota State University Maverick Men’s Hockey team. The junior from Illinois is a Hobey Baker Award Finalist and a Richter Award Finalist this year. During the 2020-2021 season, McKay added to his list of accomplishments from his college career at Minnesota State University. McKay was named 2020-21 WCHA Player of the Year, 2020-21 WCHA Goaltender of the Year and 2020-21 All-WCHA First Team. McKay joins Tony Esposito as one of two players to have been a three-time WCHA Goaltending Champion. He currently ranks second on the NCAA career shutouts list with 23 and holds a 21-3-0 records for the year with 10 shutouts. The Mavericks will face St. Cloud State in the Frozen Four at 4 p.m. April 8 at Pittsburgh, where McKay looks to help lead the Men’s Hockey team to the championship.

• What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well? Committing to a different school besides Minnesota State University

• What three items can always be found in your refrigerator? Eggs, yogurt and chicken
• If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? Read
• What skill would you like to master? Being able to memorize everything
• What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you? Being able to start as a freshman
• What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of? Starbucks
• If all jobs had the same pay and hours, what job would you like to have? Chef
• Who inspires you to be better? My parents
• What is something you will NEVER do again? Go back to the top of Willis Tower in Chicago since I am not a fan of heights
• What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Go to a different country
• If you could have a super power, what would it be? Teleportation in general and being able to time travel with it
