MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Mavericks #13 bring a road victory to their home opener Saturday, Sept. 7, after a quick start helped topple #22 Northwest Missouri State 36-22 at a Thursday, Aug. 29, Show Me State Showdown.

The Mavericks host Bemidji State on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in Blakeslee Stadium.

“I thought that we had a lot of early motivation and we were all about the team early in the game,” said head coach Todd Hoffner after the Mavericks collected their 12th consecutive season opener win.

The Maverick offense scored on three of its first four possessions of the game. Meanwhile, the defense allowed just four first downs through the first 30 minutes as the Bearcats mustered 95 total yards of offense compared to MSU’s 234.
