Nat’l D2 Champion Mavericks Face DI U of Kentucky in Oct. 29 Exhibition Game

Minnesota State Mavericks men’s basketball team will face the University of Kentucky in an exhibition game on Tuesday, October 29 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.

Tip-off between the Mavericks and the Wildcats is to be determined.

“We are very excited to be playing one of the most historic college basketball programs in the history of the game,” head coach Matt Margenthaler said. “This will be a great opportunity for our program and great exposure for our university.”

The Mavericks finished their 2023-24 season with a 35-2 record as they went on to claim their first NCAA Division II Championship in team history.

The Wildcats finished their 2023-24 campaign with a 23-10 record as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for an NCAA record 61st time in team history.

The last time Minnesota State faced a Division I opponent in an exhibition contest came during 2019-20 season when the Mavericks traveled to Carbondale, Ill., to take on Southern Illinois.
