Journaling: Stare Fear in the Face

This week I want to talk more about the idea of living a fearless life.

I have always been a fearless person as I tend to go against the grain. Never wanting to be ordinary.

I’m always doing things outside of the box, and sometimes my actions have been questioned, not because they are bad but because they are different. I have come to accept that being different is ok!

Going back to journaling, it helps rationalize thoughts and creates space for these questions.

I wrote a journal entry explaining my thoughts on fear.

Entry from 2/1/21

“My intention is to start living more of a fear free life.

A few things that I am fearful of:

  • Embarrassment.
  • Speaking in front of a large crowd of people.
  • Not being good enough for others.
  • Graduating and not having a job lined up.

All of these things really scare me. I want to change this by not being afraid and facing my fears head on. This month I am going to set a goal for myself to work on this list and embrace my fears.

With graduation around the corner, putting these fears into reality and taking the initiative to work through them rather than around them is my goal. I tend to avoid conflict as much as possible, but now I want to change that for myself as the future approaches by turning conflict into progress.”

For those of you who struggle with similar fears, or have fears of your own. Write them down and track your progress. I believe that doing this will progress your personal confidence.

Lastly, I read an article that mentioned how important it is to embrace struggle. Instead of running from it, feel grateful for it. Accept the gratitude that the struggle is providing you. It may sound weird but being able to feel grateful for your mistakes is important in self growth.

As always, live and let live.
