BEST BOARD F’23: Nomin Senardheera Isn’t Shy About Getting Involved & Making Connections

In being nominated for the BEST Board, Nomin Senadheera was quickly recognized for his active participation in a wide range of campus activities ranging from CSU Building Manager to Student Events Team.

“Nomin has become extremely involved on campus and is now a well-known face to many,” the nominator stated. “He started in the fall of 2021 and has become very involved since that time. He is always looking for new ways to grow his leadership experiences and meet new people. He is a part of many organizations, and very involved in them, at that. I have been very impressed to see how he has evolved and how quickly he took the initiative to get involved and take on so many leadership positions in addition to school and work.”

How has campus involvement and/or campus employment enhanced YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE?

It made me develop my leadership skills, personality, teamwork and it also helped me to go out of my comfort zone and be involved and make new friends and make connections.

How has campus involvement and/or campus employment enhanced YOUR FUTURE?

Building my network, making new connections and improving my communication and interpersonal skills.

How has campus involvement/campus employment enhanced YOUR LIFE? How are you different today than you were on your first day of college.

I’m definitely not shy to go interact with new people and adjust to new environment.

Provide one or more detailed examples where your campus involvement/work experience made you a better leader.

Running for VP in Student Ambassadors and being elected as Business Manager for Student Events Team was some of the examples. My experiences on campus helped me to be confident in myself to run for these positions without being shy. Also, my work experience as a Building Manager in the CSU helped me develop my leadership and teamwork skills as well.

What advice would you share with fellow students in helping them make the most of their college experience?

Get involved, go out of your comfort Zone.

Throughout your college experience at Minnesota State Mankato, what has provided the greatest personal growth, memories, satisfaction and/or personal pride.

My work in CSU Operations.

Share a special “lifelong” memory of college you will take with you when you leave Minnesota State Mankato.

The amount friends I made from the US and all around the world and the fun times I spent with them.
