There may be some new hardware in the University Athletics trophy case after Scott Nelsen’s chili concoction, Nelly’s Tailgating Trio, claimed the traveling trophy as the top vote-getter in Wednesday’s annual Chili Cook-off. Partly responsible for the win were Scott’s Cheez-its toppings seasoned in a smoker. Hosted by University Dining, the chili fundraiser supports Stop Hunger efforts. For $2 or a unperishable food item, participants could sample four chili recipes. Other samplings were offered by the CSU, Kearney International Center and Campus Dietitian. The event raised 285 pounds of food, and $435. Scott is the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Marketing & Communications for the Mavericks.
