Maverick Women’s Basketball senior guard Joey Batt, from New Ulm, is one of the WBCA’s NCAA DII Women’s Basketball All-Americans for 2023-24. Leading the Mavericks to the NCAA DII regional title, Batt is the first Maverick All-American to earn All-American honors since 2009.
She also earned her third NSIC Defensive Player of the Year honor. Likewise, she was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team and was awarded with the NSIC’s Most Outstanding Senior Award.
In the regional championship game, Batt led all scorers with 28 points on 10-18 FG shooting, three rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead Minnesota State to an upset one-seed Southern Nazarene, 80-48, advancing to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history.
Batt and the Mavericks travel to St. Joseph, Mo. to take on Georgia Southwestern (29-3) on Monday, March 25 at 8:30 p.m. The game will be played at the St. Joseph Civic Arena and will be the first matchup between the Mavericks and the Lady Hurricanes.
