In the past few years, Mav Life has gained popularity among students, who have consistently utilized its features. Feedback from students reveals that they find the University’s official app useful and effective for their needs.

However, Chris Lienemann, IT Solutions Architect, said student survey results seek more individuals, including faculty and staff, engaging with the app and taking advantage of its capabilities.

Students appreciate the app as it helps them connect with each other, fostering a sense of community. However, they also express the need for more event information and service-related updates to be posted on Mav Life.

Lienemann added that they believe that enhanced connectivity with various campus departments and offices would be beneficial. Moreover, students emphasize the importance of increased awareness about available resources and services.

The Mav Life app serves as a valuable tool to remain at the forefront of students’ minds, reaching them throughout the week, whether or not they are on campus. It facilitates communication between the university and students, ensuring important updates are promptly delivered. Additionally, the app serves as a platform for various offices to showcase their services and initiatives, creating awareness among students.

The usage statistics of Mav Life highlight its significance on campus. Since August 2019, the Mav Life app has seen 16,000 new user registrations, primarily consisting of students. It has been opened four million times. Furthermore, there have been 84,000 event views, 9,800 posts in categories such as news, student fees, lost and found, and rideshare.

Training sessions have played a crucial role in promoting Mav Life usage and its various features. Students have been guided on how to navigate Mav Life effectively and make the most out of its functionalities. The app offers a secure platform for students to connect with their school without disclosing personal information, ensuring their safety.

Furthermore, the app has facilitated communication among students, with 400,000 friend connections and 173,000 messages exchanged. While some messages may be casual greetings, it demonstrates the app’s effectiveness in enabling student interactions.

The app’s top five features include MavMail with 383,000 clicks, followed by D2L, Bus Tracker, E-Services and Dining. These features provide easy access to important tools and services within the app.

Mav Life’s popularity has witnessed a steady increase over the years, with an average of 400,000 app opens per month, compared to 200,000 in previous years. This growth indicates its effectiveness as a communication channel and its value to the student body.

Multiple campus departments, including student support, student services, student affairs marketing, IT, and student government representatives, regularly assess the app’s performance and make necessary adjustments. They strive to improve the campus guide within the app and continuously explore ways to enhance its functionality.

In addition, new features to Mav Life address some long-awaited needs. These include scheduled workflows and keyword alerts. Keyword alerts enable users to receive email notifications when certain keywords or phrases are mentioned. Scheduled workflows allow the scheduled posting of repetitive events, Lienemann explained.

Overall, the Mav Life app has become an indispensable tool for students, fostering a sense of community and improving communication between various campus entities. As its user base continues to grow, the app developers and university officials are committed to implementing new features and enhancements to cater to the evolving needs of the student body.
