The Sound of Music Offers a Timeless Tale of Family, Faith and the Will to Survive

Classic Real-Life Story Opens April 7 in Ted Paul Theatre

The timely, wartime story of a family spirit fueled by hope, togetherness, and love of life and country concludes the Mainstage Theatre season as the University’s Department of Theatre & Dance presents The Sound of Music.

The classic, heartwarming musical based on the real-life Von Trapp family singers, The Sound of Music follows Maria, a postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children. Her presence restores warmth and singing back into the home. Based on the Oscar winning film of 1965, this musical is about love, music, and finding a way to survive loss of homeland to the Nazis.
