Students will be able to get a free reusable tote pre-stuffed full of fresh produce at the Free Markets Market on Monday, April 12, between 2 and 4 p.m.
The event will be on the campus mall by the red statue between the Centennial Student Union and the Memorial Library.
Sponsored by the Community Engagement Office, Campus Kitchen and Campus Cupboard, the produce provided by Second Harvest Heartland will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to produce, the bags will include information about volunteering, making donations as well as food insecurity support offered through the Maverick Food Pantry, Campus Kitchen and Campus Cupboard.
Other information will seek food drive donations through the Pinky Swear Food Drive going on during April to assist childen with cancer.
Student groups assisting the Free Farmers Market include Mavs in Action and members of Mankato Rugby. Persons wishing to volunteer for prep, distribution or cleanup times should visit: https://mnsumankato.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/community-engagement-office/events
