Two individual championships and the nation’s top 4×100 relay team were among Maverick honors claimed at the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Finals as the women’s team took home the third-place national trophy.
Makayla Jackson captured the national championship in the 100m dash (11.66) and Denisha Cartwright broke the ribbon in the 100m low hurdles (13.35). Both Jackson and Cartwright’s recorded the first national championship in their respective events in Maverick women’s track history.
Jackson, Cartwright, Ja’Cey Simmons and Rose Cramer posted the top time of 44.29 to claim the national title in the 4x100m relay edging out second-place West Texas A&M by 0.02 seconds.
