Homecoming 2019 is right around the corner. Homecoming is a time where alumni, current and new students come together to celebrate maverick pride. With many events on and some off of campus, it can be a very daunting task keeping everything straight and organized.  So here in the CSU, we put everything you’d need to know in one article! 

September 30th

Mavs on the Mall w/ Dunk Tank – 11 am at CSU Mall

Bonfire & Fireworks – 8 pm at Blakeslee Stadium 

October 1st

Homecoming and FSL Blood Drive – 9 am at CSU Ballroom

Maverick Pride Booth – 11 am CSU Lincoln Lounge

Dodgeball and Spirit Climb – 7 pm Myers Field House

October 2nd

Stomp Your Chomp Food Eating Contest – 12 pm at CSU Hearth Lounge

October 3rd

Office Decorating Contest, Judging – 2 pm at Minnesota State Campus

Homecoming Lip Sync – 7 pm at Bresnan Arena

October 4

Women’s hockey vs. Minnesota – 7:07 pm at PIN Mankato Civic Center

Homecoming Concert 2019: SuperDuperKYLE – 7:30 pm at Myers Field House

October 5

Homecoming Football Tailgating – 11 am at Lot 20 Blakeslee Stadium

2019 Homecoming Parade – 12 pm Warren St. Mankato

Alumni Zone – 1 pm Blakeslee Stadium 

Football Vs. Minnesota Duluth (Homecoming) – 2 pm at Blakeslee Stadium

Women’s Hockey vs. Minnesota – 2:07 pm at PIN Mankato Civic Center

Men’s Hockey vs. Mount Royal (Exhibition Game) – 6:07 pm at Mankato Civic Center

Homecoming Block Party – 7 pm UDC Lawn

There are a lot of activities going on homecoming week. We choose some of our favorite and most memorable events and highlighted them for you!

Bonfire & Fireworks

When the bonfire is lit it stands 25 feet tall and is made up of 250+ pallets of wood. This project was first started back in 2014 with the help of a student-ran organization of Construction Management students and the leadership of Homecoming co-chair, David Scheiler. 

The evening is finished off with a 15-minute fireworks show!

Parking will be available in lot 20 for anyone interested in attending the event. There will be no outside food or beverage. Minnesota State University, Mankato is alcohol, other drugs, and tobacco-free campus. The use of substances will result in removal from this event. 

Maverick Pride Booth

The maverick pride booth will be in the CSU Lincoln Lounge on Tuesday, October 1st from 11-1 pm. This gives you the perfect opportunity to get in the Maverick spirit and get a photo for your social media! 

Stomp Your Chomp Food Eating Contest

Annual Homecoming food eating contest! This year the first rounds will be tater tot hotdish with the final round being the “Friends” Triffle. Each team that enters will receive 40 points for each participant (max of two). 

“Rules: There will be four rounds consisting of three heats, one for each division, and then the final round. Two winners from each division will compete in the final round. Contestants must remain seated at all times. They cannot use their hands or any other tools. Each plate must be completely eaten. One judge will determine the winner of each round. Two judges will monitor for interactions. Judge’s decisions are final.”

Homecoming Lip Sync

Lip Sync coronation starts at 7 pm on Thursday, October 3rd at the Bresnan Arena. All the teams will be competing to win the lip sync battle. Along with a performance from the MNSU dance team performing during the competition! 

Homecoming Concert 2019: SuperDuperKYLE

“Hip-Hop artist KYLE will perform Friday, Oct. 4 on the Summit and Jacob Heights stage at Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Myers Field House during the University’s Homecoming week. The performance will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Myers Field House with an artist to be announced.

KYLE is a hip-hop artist best known for his single “iSpy” featuring Lil Yachty. The song reached its peak position at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. Another well-known song of his, “Playinwitme” can be found on his debut studio album, “Light of Mine” that was released on May 2018. Light of Mine debuted at number 29 on the Billboard 200.

Kyle has collaborated with artists such as Kehlani, Lil Yachty, G-Eazy, Chance the Rapper, Miguel, Ty Dolla Sign, and among others.”

2019 Homecoming Parade

The homecoming parade will take place on warren street and stadium road. 

Football vs. Minnesota Duluth (Homecoming)

The mavericks take on the UMD Bulldogs on Saturday, October 5th at 2 pm. Students get in FREE with a MavCard. General admission adult is $10 and youth tickets starting at $5.

Homecoming Block Party

Join us for a Homecoming block party. End your Homecoming week with glow mini golf, laser tag, Hot 96.7, free food, and a petting zoo! An awesome ending to a fantastic Homecoming!
