National Champion Denisha Cartwright Sets NCAA D2 Record in 60-Meter Hurdles

Accolades Continue as She Earns Regional Athlete of the Year

Denisha Cartwright, the Mavericks national record holder in the 60-meter hurdles, was named NCAA Division II Central Region Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year on Friday, March 15.

The recognition by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association follows Cartwright’s outstanding performance that included the National NCAA D2 Title in the indoor women’s 60-meter hurdles. Cartwright’s record-setting time of 7.93 is the third highest in all levels of NCAA competition.

Cartwright, a graduate student from Nassau, Bahamas, was featured in her hometown newspaper, The Tribune, after she was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year earlier this month.
