Campus Groups Join Community to Celebrate Earth Month during April

Events Planned Throughout the Month

Maverick Adventures and more than 20 campus and community groups are offering events throughout April to highlight Earth Month.

The Earth Month celebration has expanded from a week of programs to a full-month schedule this year. Maverick Adventures, a part of Campus Rec, is coordinating the effort for the third year in a row. The events are being held to promote sustainability, equity, education and wellness in the outdoors. Many events are free and open to the public. A complete schedule of events is available online, along with event details.

Event highlights from the month-long schedule include:

  • Friday, April 12 – Indigenous Astronomy at Jeffers Petroglyphs in Comfrey, Minnesota
  • Saturday, April 13 – Astronomy Open House
  • Monday, April 15 – Film screening: “Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time”
  • Wednesday, April 17 – Presentation: “Striving for Change: Biodiversity, Regeneration & Rethinking”
  • Thursday, April 25 – Ethics and Animals: A discussion with Peter Singer

Other events include volunteer opportunities, field trips, wellness classes, discussions and more. A complete schedule of events is available online, along with event details.
