Chapters ‘Rock and Roll’ Through Greek Week with Contests and Awards April 8-14

“Rock and Roll” is the theme April 8-12 as Fraternity and Sorority Life at Minnesota State University invites the campus to join in celebrating Greek Week. Activities include a Monday FREE hot dog cookout for the campus community as well as cardboard boat races, and the popular lip sync contest among the FSL chapters. The week concludes Sunday, April 14, with the annual awards banquet recognizing the Chapter of the Year and other outstanding accomplishments among the FSL community.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Elect 2024 Officers

The Fraternity and Sorority Chapters will host a Meet the Greeks night on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 8 to 10 p.m. in CSU 253/4/5 following recent election of 2024 FSL officers. Alyssa McCulloch, of Sigma Sigma Sigma, was elected President of the Panhellenic Council and Kaden Schafer, Sigma Nu, was named President of the Interfraternity Council. New officers will serve during the 2024 calendar year.

Being a leader sometimes means making tough decision. The best leaders make those decisions and maintain the respect of others without asking for it. Morgan Rusler’s nominator saw that in her and thought it deserving of BEST Board recognition. “She has not sought out recognition for her accomplishments and contributions, and this honor would be very befitting of her during her last semester at MSU. Morgan has been an exemplary student leader, and there aren’t many I would consider as deserving of this honor as she is.”

These past few weeks, Fraternity and Sorority Life has been going through the process of electing new council officers. These individuals are eager to take on new opportunities within the Greek community. Our mission statement voices that we are a “community of campus leaders committed to excellence in scholarship and to promoting dynamic personal growth of members, focusing on the development of experimental leadership, and the fostering of lasting relationships.”

Through the Decades is the 2022 recruitment theme as fraternities and sororities seek to attract the interest of prospective members through their respective fellowship and sustaining mission. With social events planned for Wednesday, Aug. 24, recruitment efforts by both fraternities and sororities will continue Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 25-28.
