In the Twin Cities, teams wait in line to play a new arcade sensation–Killer Queen. Now the BumbleBear strategy game brought to campus by Maverick Esports has taken up residence in the CSU Maverick Bullpen.

Before Ashrit was booked to the max with his coursework, he took significant responsibility in the International Festival planning. In 2019, he and one other student were the sole planners for Children’s World. He recruited international RSOs and friends to set up age-appropriate children’s booths that taught cultural lessons. In addition, he is an active member in the Computer Engineering department and other STEM organizations.
Trevor Braget is the new program coordinator for the CSU Maverick Bullpen. Overseeing one of the largest university game rooms in the country, Braget returns to the CSU after previously serving as the technical services graduate assistant. Among his first actions as program coordinatore was the creation of a new maverickbullpen Instagram page.
Feedspot, the internet’s largest database of bloggers and podcasts” rates the CSU Blog as the third best student union blog globally in a Dec. 4 posting. The Centennial Student Union blog ranks behind Syracuse University and the University of Vaasa, Finland.
In a feature story with Dr. David Hood, the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, said seeing and advancing student strengths are part of the hard work and “meaningful connections” that help all students excel and succeed.
These past few weeks, Fraternity and Sorority Life has been going through the process of electing new council officers. These individuals are eager to take on new opportunities within the Greek community. Our mission statement voices that we are a “community of campus leaders committed to excellence in scholarship and to promoting dynamic personal growth of members, focusing on the development of experimental leadership, and the fostering of lasting relationships.”
CSU StressBusters during Finals Week include the traditional FREE Late Night Breakfast on Monday starting at 10pm on the MavAve. Other activities include daytime and evening therapy dog sessions on Monday; FREE 10-minute massages Monday-Wednesday in CSU 203; Monday cello music at 11 a.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge as well as coloring stations and Punch the Clown throughout the week.
I know many people like to do it all. I see my friends and others fill their schedule to the brim. If that works for them, then that’s great! But the single best thing for my burnout and mental health that I have learned is to not do that.
If you are burnt out, you are not alone. Especially now around finals week, many students are experiencing burnout. Luckily, that also means there are resources to help cope and combat.
With finals week approaching, many of us are suffering from burnout more than ever. Cleveland Clinic says, “According to the APA Dictionary of Psychology, burnout is defined as “physical, emotional or mental exhaustion, accompanied by decreased motivation, lowered performance and negative attitudes towards oneself and others.” It is something we have likely all experienced, though for different amounts of time and to different extents.
Minnesota State University, Mankato moved up 3 spots and ranks 9th nationally in international student population among master’s institutions, according to the annual “Open Doors Report” released Monday by the Institute of International Education.
The LGBT Center has organized Drag Show on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. show consists of drag performers who usually lip-sync or sing live to a wide variety of songs. These shows are full of love, fun, and style where the audience can expect a great time” says Stephan Thomas, director of LGBT Center.

The regular third Wednesday of the month visit by therapy dogs with the Mankato chapter of Alliance of Therapy Dogs returns as the CSU Hound Hugs & Kanine Kisses program continues its 2022 sessions. Come hang out with our favorite tail-waggers on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge.

“Your English is Hilarious” hosted by the Kearney International Center offers international students a space for conversational English without judgment. This next event will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the CSU Heritage Room, CSU 101.
“People depend on food, it is not negotiable.” Swipe out Hunger was brought to Minnesota State Mankato three years ago through student Kara Svercl’s efforts. Swipe out Hunger makes an annual donation of meal swipes to the school, which students can apply for. This year marks the third year of the partnership. Food insecurity is not a new issue, but it is now being faced head-on.
