The CSU Serendipity Music Series spring lineup continues Wednesday, Jan. 25, with featured Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame guitarist PK Mayo. Joined by John Wright on bass, Mayo, one of Minnesota’s top blues musicians, will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge.

Dessa will be among the Spring Semester list of artists appearing with the Music Performance Series hosted by the Music Department. The spring series first performance features Pieta Brown on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Halling Recital Hall.

CSU StressBusters during Finals Week include the traditional FREE Late Night Breakfast on Monday starting at 10pm on the MavAve. Other activities include daytime and evening therapy dog sessions on Monday; FREE 10-minute massages Monday-Wednesday in CSU 203; Monday cello music at 11 a.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge as well as coloring stations and Punch the Clown throughout the week.
A week that includes Pizza with the President and a special day of volunteer service and an opportunity to take in all the great research and academic programs on campus will culminate Friday, Sept. 9, with the official inauguration of Dr. Edward Inch as the 13th president of Minnesota State Mankato.
High School Musical and A Christmas Carol are among fall productions as Theatre and Dance 2022-23 season offers five Main Stage productions, two full-length dance concerts, and four Studio productions. Paul Hustoles returns to direct Something Rotten in April 2023.
A traveling exhibit titled “RESOLUTE: MN Stories of 9/11 & the War,” will be on display in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Centennial Student Union Ballroom from Sept. 7-11. The exhibit focuses solely on Minnesotans and their roles on 9/11 and during the global war on terror. An accompanying film, The Outpost, presented in part by the Student Events Team, will be viewed Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in Ostrander Auditorium.
Minnesota State University, Mankato President Edward Inch announced that a new exhibit and dialog space has been created in the University’s Memorial Library to display a 7-foot-tall statue of Abraham Lincoln that was a 1926 gift to the institution from alumni. “I hope this space will stimulate deeper discussions and research that help us better understand the history of the Dakota people, the complexities of Lincoln’s time and how historical events shape contemporary issues and thoughts,” President Inch said
The Centennial Student Union continues its CSU Mall Fest tradition with its Fall 2022 edition on Wednesday, Aug. 31, again offering free hot dogs, a petting zoo and live music by the Fat City All Stars. The CSU Mall Fest on the campus mall will join the annual Campus and Community Involvement Fair that runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and introduces students to Recognized Student Organizations, the Student Events Team and community groups inviting student to get involved.
M.A.G.I.C. is a new Recognized Student Organization whose community of creative thinkers are planning a Minecraft campus tour, holograms in the classroom and a Fall 2022 robotics competition among early goals.
Kwik Trip Bend of the River Festival, a new outdoor fall concert with headliner Jimmie Allen will be Saturday, Sept. 17, on the practice fields just west of Blakeslee Stadium on the Minnesota State Mankato campus. Memorial celebration for former Minnesota State Mankato President Margaret R. Preska will be Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. in the University’s Ted Paul Theatre in the Early Center for Performing Arts. Preska served as the University’s 10th president from 1979-1992. She passed away Nov. 17. She was 83.
